Applications Open for OBA Board Positions

The nomination period for open OBA board positions has begun. In 2019, the following positions will be up for election:

  • President: Responsible for leading board meetings, acting as the official spokesperson of the organization; providing insight and goals for the future of the organization and bail industry in Oklahoma; reviewing financial status and opportunities; maintaining the ethics and expectations set forth by OBA and Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID); and serving as the primary point of contact for external groups, including media, vendors and OID
  • Secretary: Responsible for preparing for board meetings; maintaining organizational records and minutes for membership; compiling and organizing informational disclosures and reporting on the financial and organizational status of OBA; and maintaining the ethics and expectations set forth by OBA and OID
  • District 1: Represent the northwest district throughout OBA efforts; Attend and provide industry insight during OBA board meetings; Provide management of OBA affairs within the northwest district; maintaining the ethics and expectations set forth by OBA and OID
  • District 3: Represent the southeast district throughout OBA efforts; Attend and provide industry insight during OBA board meetings; Provide management of OBA affairs within the southeast district; maintaining the ethics and expectations set forth by OBA and OID

In order to run for any of the above offices or directorships, nominees must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Be a current, paid member of OBA
  2. Be in good standing with the Department of Insurance for at least 12 months, unless he/she is a new member
  3. Be endorsed by three good-standing members of OBA
  4. Be a previous member of the board for at least one year (only applicable if running for president)

To be included in the nomination process, please obtain an official nomination form by contacting the OBA office at oba@coxinet.net or 405-524-5920. Complete the nomination form, including endorsements, and submit it to the OBA office no later than Friday, March 1, 2019.

Nominations will only be accepted through the official process noted above. Nominations from the floor and write-ins will not be considered.

Note: The OBA Constitution states “(i)ncumbents in the positions of Officers and Directors shall be deemed to be candidates for their respective positions unless they expressly request not to be retained. All other candidates for these positions shall be nominated on forms to be provided by the Association and distributed upon request to the members. Any nominations not on the correct form will not qualify for election.”
